What is the Koalaa Foundation?
We’re setting up the shiny new Koalaa Foundation in order to help us continue and expand the unique services Project Limitless has to offer families across the UK.
Project Limitless is a charitable drive that provides comfortable, easy and fun upper limb prosthetics to children and young people across the UK. At the Koalaa Foundation we don’t believe equal access should come at a price or that children should have to wait months to get fitted.
A Koalaa sleeve is a slip-on-and-go prosthetic arm made up of a soft fabric and interchangeable tools. It’s as comfortable as your favourite pair of trainers yet as versatile as a multitool. With Koalaa there are no hospital visits, no messy plaster casts, no blisters, no fuss: just you and your potential. Since its launch in 2020, Project Limitless (in partnership with the Douglas Bader Foundation) has provided over 600 families with a Koalaa soft prosthetic. That’s over 600 children who are smashing balls out of the park, reaching new speeds on their bike, learning a new instrument or flipping cartwheels. We’re now looking for trustees to join the Koalaa Foundation board to help us continue our mission and reach even more families across the UK and Ireland.
What are we looking for?
Remuneration: Voluntary role, plus expenses
Location: Remote/from home
Time commitment: Up to 4 board meetings a year, plus a 1-2 hours a month
Reporting to: Board of Trustees, with support from the Head of Koalaa Kids
To be a trustee of an organisation is an exciting and fulfilling role. The most effective boards are ones which benefit from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and skill sets.
The role of a trustee is to ensure that the Koalaa Foundation fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on its vision, purpose and objectives. We would love it if our trustees also had a genuine interest in the vision and purpose of the Koalaa Foundation and Project Limitless.
What difference will you make?
As a Koalaa Foundation trustee you will be helping to ensure that children across the UK and around the world continue to have access to a fun, comfortable and functional Koalaa prosthetic/orthotic at no cost to themselves or their families.
Together we will work towards a world where children and young people with limb differences face fewer barriers to achieving their ambitions, dreams and hobbies.
